Hotel Cooking

When living out of a hotel, there will be some challenges in the kitchen. I am going be offering quick and easy recipes that can be made in a kitchen with limited kitchen utensils and ingredients. If you are living out of a hotel and will only be there for a limited time before packing up and flying somewhere new, you will not have all of the luxuries of cooking like you may be used to. But, if you use what you have, and take a break from being the master chef that you usually are, you can use this time to be a simple chef. Here are the utensils that you will typically be using to create the recipes for the duration of the time in your hotel: microwave, two-eye burner, measuring cup, strainer, three Tupperware bowls, cutting board, two small pots, one pan, measuring spoons, can opener, two sharp knives, spatula, two spoons, and a ladle. (If you choose to live a Residence Inn, you are provided with a delicious hot breakfast daily, and dinner on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.)

Supplies to Pack

Waffle fry boxes are going to quickly become one of your most prized possessions on packing days. Use a waffle fry box to pack some things that you can't cook without. (Keep in mind that you will be shipping these boxes, so do not pack something that cannot be replaced. It could easily be broken or lost, but hopefully not.)

My personal kitchen supply list:

1. Crock Pot
2. Rubber Spatula
3. Garlic Powder
4. Season Salt
5. Basil
6. Cumin
7. Salt & Pepper
8. Glad Press'N Seal
9. Ziploc Bags

While most of these items are quite inexpensive, they can add up if you are having to re-buy them every few weeks. Wrap the glass lid of your crock pot in a towel before packing, or keep the original crock pot box with its styrofoam inserts to pack you pot.
