Moving into McAllen

We arrived at McAllen at 2:45 AM on Sunday night. It seems that we are excellent at packing up and moving quickly except for when we are having to say goodbye to our family in the process. We were so glad to see our family over the weekend, but we had to be on our way to our new destination.

We are loving McAllen. At first, we were not sure what to expect here, but we love it. Our hotel is in an excellent location and it shares a parking lot with HEB, which makes grocery shopping super convenient. We are glad to have a few of our favorite Texas restaurants available again, and though it may seem strange, we are glad to hear people speaking Spanish again. All of those things combined make us feel right at home. It is funny how things as trivial as a certain brand of groceries, restaurants, or a language can bring such a sense of comfort.

Justin has a lot of excitement going on at his current location. He is the first of four IMs to arrive here in McAllen. The other three will be arriving next week. This week he was doing some inventory and equipment checks in addition to a ton of hiring. He has really been enjoying getting to know both of the operators that are here in town, and he is totally in love with this team.

Justin and I spent our first Thanksgiving alone without any family. A few local CFA employees very kindly invited us to join them, but we ended up just being bums together. We both wore hats all day, made lunch, and went to the movies. (They have a brand new Cinemark here in town, and it is AMAZING!)

We finished the weekend off by going to the movies again. We love movies, and if you are a movie lover like us I am sure that you noticed there was a "movie drought." I mean there were movies out, but not really anything we would want to watch. Now it seems like they released a whole bunch of good ones at one time. And we totally can not get enough of their movie theater. I am so jealous of this theater!

We are looking forward to what the rest of this month will hold. But, we are having fun on this move to McAllen.
